Stellar Door

Friday, January 21st, 2011

I got a nice submission from Nikolai aka Stellar Door who makes cool laid back jams that keep the wave coming. In some circles Chillwave is being pronounced dead but I’m still a sucker for it. A chill groove, some simple woozy synths, and a mellow vocal always make for a good time! Here’s a video of my favorite of the three Stellar Door tracks. You can download the whole thing here for free. Also check out some nice photos at the Stellar Door blog.

Between the Folds

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

Back in 2007 I set out to make a cd case out of a folded standard sheet of paper.  The resulting case was used to house the weird little instrumental EP that I did called Music Computer Film.  Since then I’ve been making a lot of the Alchemist Records limited edition releases by folding paper so Origami is something that really interests me.  The PBS documentary Between The Folds takes Origami to the next plane and makes me think there could be many awesome music packaging ideas to come.
