Kite Flying Robot ‘Red Phone Booth’

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Nikolas and co. of Kite Flying Robot are a hard working band that specializes in nice and easy New Wave/80’s inspired indie pop. With this track ‘Red Phone Booth’ (title reminiscent of OMD’s awesome ‘Red Frame/White Light‘) they display a knack for writing a solid little tune and turning in a nice video to match. Super catchy bass hook, nice vocal and synth melodies and really well placed/reserved claps make this one of those songs that gets stuck in you. There’s a certain humility and straightforwardness that I like about their whole thing too. No hidden agenda or hipster posturing, just good times. Sure you could argue that it’s a little too safely in MOR territory but hey sometimes cruisin down the middle lane in your proverbial supped up Fiero just feels right and the level of craftsmanship here indicates that if these Robots were to venture off the road into the danger of the wilderness or the desolation of the deserts they may have something to really look out for.

Modern Weather

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Earthquake on the east coast got you down? Hottest Summer ever got you thinking apocalyptic 2012 thoughts? Well don’t fight it, ride with it. The second track for my periodical album Ghosts of Bush is here for you and it’s a foreboding slow jam that’ll get you in the right head space to enjoy your slide into Armageddon. It’s called Modern Weather and speaks for itself. It’s also from the White Noise era but was a bit too dark and weird to fit.

Ghosts of Bush

Sunday, August 14th, 2011

So I have 5 or 6 different album, single, and ep ideas that I’m working on but I don’t expect to have any finished work anytime in the near future. After running across this first track in my ipod’s vast circuitry I decided to offer up an evolving album of sorts that will be comprised of outtakes, oddities, experiments, demos etc. It will be called Ghosts of Bush and will be free and open to the public. I’ll try to publish new tracks fairly regularly here and on the FB page. Some will be new some old, some rubbish and perhaps some gold. Enjoy and pass along.
The first track is Orgasm In The Ghosts of Bush, a somewhat old track from the White Noise era.
