Return of a classic from another one of the synth gods. I like the simplicity and elegance of this timeless design. Direct from the man himself.
put two together and get this:
Tape Op is by far one of the best magazine for recordists out there. It’s subtitle, “The Creative Music Recording Magazine”, sums up what is different and appealing about it. From the DIY homemade gear articles, to great interviews and gear reviews, there is a certain candid and inclusive perspective that runs through the content. With subscriptions still being free it’s a must for anyone into recording music. The current issue has a really good interview with the renowned Brian Eno. The interview itself is not available online but there is a little article on the images used for the piece. Check it out here and subscribe for goodness sake!

I’m a bit behind the curve in finding out about this upcoming synth/senquencer/sampler thing but I find it impressive and intriguing enough to share it with you. It’s called the OP-1 from a Swedish firm Teenage Engineering and it promises do almost everything but write songs for you! The combination of things that it does, the “tape” feature, the design and the synthesis all make this idea stand out. Here’s some photos and a video.
